12 Reflection Questions for the New Year

Happy New Year!

I hope your 2024 is off to a great start.

I rang in the New Year with my partner and a small group of friends playing Mario Party and it was a blast.

Since it’s a new year, I thought it would be great to put together a reflection exercise for you.

12 Reflection Questions for the New Year

Reflection serves as a powerful tool for us to pause, introspect and gain valuable insights from our experiences.

This mindful pause grants us clarity to align our values with our actions.

By contemplating the past, we empower ourselves to shape an intentional and fulfilling future.

Feel free to get cozy, have a warm drink, and start reflecting!

Looking Back

  • What went well this past year?
  • What are my favourite wins from the year?
  • What was challenging or didn’t go so well?
  • What did I learn about myself?
  • How did I progress towards my goals?
  • What am I grateful for?
  • Pick 3 words that described your year.

Looking Forward

  • What would I like to do more of in this next year?
  • What would I like to do less of?
  • How would I like to show up this year? What does this person do? Be specific.
  • What can I do right now to become that person?
  • Pick 3 words that you would like to use to describe your upcoming year.

Goal Setting

After you finish reflecting on these questions, I recommend setting up your SMART goals to support your 2024 vision.

*SMART stands for specific, measurable, action-oriented, realistic and timely.

Start with the vision and then chunk it down into daily habits.

For example…

My goal is to be able to do 20 minutes of a proper workout (and be able to do it daily).

The habit I will start with is incorporating 10 minutes of movement each morning when I wake up. This can be a workout, a walk, stretching, or dance.

When I feel confident about doing 10 minutes, I will increase to 15 minutes and eventually 20 minutes.

Eventually, movement will become workouts with increasing intensity.

It might take a while to get there but I know my health is worth it.

So what do you think?

I would love to hear more about your goals for the year, so feel free to hit reply and let me know!

Your Quote of the Week

“Good friends aren’t afraid of your light. They never blow out your flame and you don’t blow out theirs – even when it’s really bright and makes you worry about your own flame.”
